Our Story

How We Got Here

Jordan Wilson holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree and Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA, CA), and CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER (CFP) professional designations.

Mr. Wilson has over 25 years experience in wealth management, including: financial planning; estate and retirement planning; investment analysis and advice for bankable, non-bankable, and operating assets; personal taxation; portfolio construction and review; portfolio risk management; trust, foundation, and fiduciary services.

In respect of business advisory, Mr. Wilson’s experience includes: financial accounting; international banking and finance; mergers and acquisitions; private and public company management and directorships; public company treasury and investor relations, including Initial Public Offering, Listing Applications, and Secondary Offerings; valuations of operating assets and entities.

Controller to Treasurer

Mr. Wilson began work with Price Waterhouse in its Calgary small business practice. Dealing with individuals, owner managed enterprises, and public companies. He developed financial accounting, business analytic, and taxation skills while performing audits, reviews, compilations, personal and corporate tax, and business valuations.

Mr. Wilson next worked in the Calgary oil and gas industry. First, as Controller and Director with a private oil services company. Then as Treasurer, Vice-President Finance, and Board member for a publicly traded junior oil company. This created a strong understanding of the oil and gas industry and business operations.

As well, Mr. Wilson developed skills in: corporate reporting and shareholder relations; taking a private company public; mergers and acquisitions; public and private financing, including Initial Public Offering, flow-through shares, corporate debt, convertible debentures, stock options, and subsequent equity offerings.

Global Finance and Fiduciary

In 1997, Mr. Wilson joined UBS, the world’s largest manager of private wealth, to work with its trust companies in the Cayman Islands and The Bahamas.

He dealt with all aspects of the trust and managed company business, including: management and review of trusts and companies; staff hiring, management, and training; estate planning; philanthropic issues; preparation and review of client financial statements; portfolio performance measurements and evaluations; analysis and recommendations for standard bankable assets; analysis and recommendations on non-standard investments, including: complex derivatives, hedge funds, real estate, and operating companies.

In 2001, Mr. Wilson transferred with UBS to Zurich where he worked in the Financial Planning organization. He dealt with: risk management issues relating to trusts, foundations, and managed companies; development and global implementation of risk management tools, trust information databases, and client accounting software.

In 2004, Mr. Wilson was named Head, Global Trust Operations, managing UBS trust companies in The Bahamas, the Cayman Islands, the Channel Islands, Singapore, and operations in Switzerland. Mr. Wilson served as Chair for each trust company and dealt with local lawyers, accountants, regulators, and government officials. As well, Mr. Wilson was involved in: technical support for UBS Financial Planners; review and approval of all non-standard or high value business; preparation and updating of fiduciary business policies and procedures; risk management; new fiduciary product development and rollout; training of trust company staff and Financial Planners.

Wealth Management 

In 2007, Mr. Wilson moved to Saskatoon and established Wilson Wealth Management.

Since 2018, Mr. Wilson has served on the CFA Society Saskatchewan Board of Directors, including Society President from 2021 to 2023. In 2023, he joined the Board of CFA Societies Canada. 

Mr. Wilson has extensive teaching experience. In 2018, he created a professional education course, “A RISKY BUSINESS: Risk Management Tools for Professionals”. He has presented on “Investors and Their Needs” and “Investment Management” in a virtual training seminar series for Western Canadian Securities Regulators. Also, he has taught Corporate Finance and Macroeconomics at Saskatchewan Polytech.

In his spare time, Mr. Wilson enjoys travelling, the outdoors, and training in Krav Maga.
